Cripps Recreation Centre was built in 1974 for the staff of Northampton General Hospital (NGH), with funds generously donated by Sir Cyril Cripps and the Cripps Foundation.
We have become the largest purpose-built sports and social club on an NHS site, which offers membership access to all healthcare economy employees, connecting services and the local community.

School holidays
Over the School holidays Cripps Recreation Centre can offer a number of activities to help take the pressure off a dreaded summer break, or the logistics of half-term.
Children's Fun Days are available for members and non members to take the edge away! Also extremely popular are our children's intensive group swimming lessons.1-2-1 lessons for all ages and standrads, and NPLQ courses.

Cripps Recreation Centre has an exceptional track record of teaching Children to swim of all ages and standards. We are proud to teach over 5 local schools and in the region of 50 individual children a week on a one to one basis with one of our many successful and professional swim teachers.
Such an astonishing intake of our new founded group lessons ran term time on Saturday Mornings has given us the opportunity to run an intense child swimming course. This Course is for swimmers of all standards including beginners. This is the perfect opportunity for those who are travelling on their summer holidays soon and would like their children to have an understanding of swimming or perhaps take a little fear away for the younger ones of the dreaded hotel pool to provide confidence and awareness to all children in a swimming environment and more importantly having SAFE poolside FUN!
